We just wanted to drop a line to express our huge appreciation of the work of Susannah Burden (SALT) and the tangible impact she has had on the development of our son's communication skills. Her inputs have clearly been fundamental in ***'s successful transition to College and, in particular, to his City and Guilds course in Catering and his work in the kitchens. His confidence has blossomed and the life skills fostered at college have been transferred to life at home.
Susannah has provided us with a weekly report on her observations of Sam and on the recommendations and support that she has given to the other professionals working alongside him. Her reports also include suggestions of how we can support the development of his communication skills outside of his college time - priceless not only because they include targeted, practical strategies but also because they offer a positive affirmation of our own efforts at home.
We have struggled over the course of ***'s life at school and college to try to secure an element of speech and language therapy in ***'s educational journey, but it has only really been in this last academic year that he has benefitted from regular support of this kind - and we cannot praise or thank Susannah enough for her care and professional insight.
